I’m presenting a mobile Flash session at the upcoming Flash Forward in New York and I’ve been messing with my notes that will be included in the workbook that is given to all attendees.
It occurs to me that there is probably enough material here to form it into a book of some kind. My experiences with various publishers over the years is enough to put a complete stop to the whole thing though so I’ve decided to go down a different route and self-publish the book using a Creative Commons license and make it available for anyone to download for free subject to the CC terms.
It’s going to be fairly comprehensive technically (I hope) but if anyone out there has had any particular experiences when creating Flash-Lite content – of any kind – and would like to contribute to the book then I’d be happy to include you. I hope that if we can get as many people’s experiences as possible then it will cover a lot of ground in terms of platform ability and process – it could end up being quite valuable I think.
So, if you’re a Flash-Lite developer with information to share – or someone who’s just messed around with it and would like to pass on any nuggets of info that you hit upon then please drop me a mail and we can work something out. There will be no revenue from the book because of the way I’m planning on distributing it but it goes without saying that all credit will be given where due etc. Check out the Creative Commons website for more information on their licenses if you want some more info…
A very good idea, Pete. Good luck!
Awesome idea! I’d love to contribute – especially if the book is published using a CC license.
Sounds like a great resource. I’d would love to help contribute; I’ll try to dig up yer e-mail; I found this great crib sheet last night on the Macromedia Flash Lite forums:
