Googlesnacks

The DotCom ‘we must hang onto smart people’ ethos hasn’t quite gone away it seems. I saw this post over on Valleywag about the Google Snack rooms. This kind of thing is such a good idea I reckon.

It’s the little things…

123Klan and Computer Arts

123Klan

I bought the latest Computer Arts magazine special today, the first web mag I’ve bought in ages. It’s all about street art and has some great pieces and profiles on graffiti artists and stencillers etc. It’s all very cool…

Anyway, Scien and Klor, of 123Klan infamy, have helped out a lot with the issue and their artwork is featured everywhere! There’s even a set of stickers on the cover (now on my Powerbook) of their work. Scien used to work for TeamChman and I had the very great pleasure of being on the Prix Ars Electronica Jury that awarded them a Golden Nica for their work on Banja. I have never seen such talent stuffed into one company before, and the list of ex-members urls on the Chman website shows you that they’re still on top of the pile. It’s well worth checking out…

It’s very cool – and you should rush out and buy it :)

I’ve been desperately trying to get my Windows Mobile 5 device to connect to my mac this past week. Pocketmac are promising WM5 compatibility that’s ‘coming soon’ (and has been for months) and The Missing Sync are also ‘working on it’. All very well and good, but there’s nothing out there at the moment :( . No problem I thought, I’ll break out an old Windows laptop and install some stuff that way – 7 hours later and still the damn thing won’t connect despite Windows updates and XP re-installs. I slapped myself for even thinking of buying a new Windows laptop the other week (it *was* a nice Viao) as the whole frustration that is Windows came rushing back with a vengeance! There’ll be no mac vs pc debate here this time, but if you’ve never used a Mac with OSX then you have NO idea how easier it is to work with over Windows, seriously.

Anyway, on my search for a Mac/WM5 sync app I came across this company, Novamedia, who have been producing some iSync add-ins to enable better sync capability for officially unsupported handsets including Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and SE. The most amazing thing is that they’re free to download. So, if you’re handset isn’t supported by iSync out of the box then might be worth a look. That said, I haven’t had to try any of them ‘cos my Nokia’s all work ok with iSync. Post any experiences in the comments if you can be arsed ;)

So, in closing, Windows sucks. :P
