It’s taken me a few days to consider this. But, I’m not that excited by the iPhone. Here’s why:

• It does not look like an Apple product. To me, it looks like something Motorola would produce.
• It’s made by Apple and they’re notorious for proprietary control – this doesn’t bode well for developers.
• The battery life has the potential to be worse than my O2 XDA Exec – a wonderful device that is little used because of the extreme power consumption limits. A day out up in London will see me out of communication by midday.
• It won’t be here for another 10 months or so.
• Besides the music screens and the base ‘widget’ screen, the interface design looks bloody dreadful. Did you really look closely at the address book? Yuk.
• 2mp Camera? I hope it’s a good one…

I have a Cingular contract that’s up about now so I will definitely try and get an iPhone when they’re released because despite of the above, it looks like a very cool device, just not an Apple device.

I was hanging out with Niqui and Aral yesterday morning (oh, the Brighton life!) and Aral was showing me the experiments that he, Niqui and Richard Leggett have been messing with on the Wii.

Seeing interactive Flash content on a tv screen is nothing new, interactive tv has been in that space for some time, just badly. And that’s the difference here, because the Wii doesn’t do Flash badly at all. In fact it’s quite the opposite.

I want to experiment with it more but even just yesterday we had an old Flash game of mine running on it pretty well:

Can’t wait to play with it a bit more, and I’ll be adapting a few things to run a little better on there too because the possibilities are vast. As we said yesterday, how cool would it be to see a multiplayer Flash game on the Wii?

Came across this fab desktop icon resource today. As far as I can tell it’s a windows and mac resource but I haven’t looked specifically for any windows stuff… (image above a single example of the icons there)
