This place is called hot-pipes because right under these warning poles is the cooling outlet for the power station on the other side of the road. The water that flows from here can look pretty disgusting and is often confused for a waste outlet, but it’s just water that’s been used to cool the power station. The end result is the area to the west of this picture (so, to the right) is quite a lot warmer than the surrounding area – add a small break about 75m out from the shore and it’s about as good as it gets for surfing in Brighton most of the time. It’s not Mavericks or anything, but can be good fun at times…

Unfortunately, the sprouts are our last veg of the season so it’s back to Waitrose for now (although, we still have 3 sprout plants like this one still in…). Add the copious eggs from Cham and Nix, our two chickens, and it’s been a great home-produced food season (right from last March in fact…).

Pip found his idea of the perfect shop today. He’s been there loads of times before but Muji, with it’s brand-less simplicity, made a real mark on him this time. Life doesn’t get any better than watching your kids find themselves…
Today’s trip also opened up lots of questions for me about certain things. I’m writing this here so that I’ll make sure to find the time to think about them a little deeper because think about them I must… While I still have the time.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Vertigo have been working on a Silverlight photo slideshow application. It’s pretty advanced now, and the source code is up on CodePlex if you want to have a play. It’s built on Silverlight 1.0:
Features:
- Minimal setup and configuration required to embed in any page
- 100% customizable via XML and/or JavaScript
- Album and slide data provided by XML, Flickr, or JavaScript
- Auto-playback with multiple transitions (e.g. fade, shape, slide, wipe, etc.)
- Plug and play with hundreds of color, font, size, position, and behavior options
- Cross-browser (IE 6 and 7, Firefox 2, Safari 2 and 3, both Windows and Mac!)
- Can be sized to fit any design and is even resizable for fluid layouts,
- Full-screen and embedded modes
- Architected for open source extensibility (e.g. object-oriented JavaScript, configuration/data provider model, user controls, modular, etc.)
