I went over to the acclaimed East Beach Cafe for breakfast this morning (I’m enjoying the last of a long weekend off from work – yay!) after reading about this place so much in various newspapers etc.
It’s in a great spot. Loads of parking and pretty easy to get to too. Inside, it’s light, airy and very pleasant to just sit in and have a coffee. All in all a wonderful venue.
I was disappointed that they don’t serve a full breakfast menu during the week though (it doesn’t say that on the website) and had to end up with a bacon roll for £4. This would have been ok, but they committed the cardinal sin of using really cheap and quite nasty bacon. Bleh.
I will never understand British businesses that go all out to impress in certain areas and then balls it up by dropping the ball in others and the East Beach Cafe is pretty typical in this respect. 10 minutes later, the waitress was walking around with another bacon roll looking for the customer who ordered it. I was the only one there at the time… :/
Simply because of the venue and the previous things I’ve seen written about the place I will definitely go back and try them again for lunch at some point I suspect, but for breakfast during the week, don’t bother…
