Hornby

Poor old Horn’, he’s getting on a bit… He’s Ben and Anna’s and this was taken on their wedding day last week where he very much kept to himself, the hustle and bustle of the day being rather too much for a mostly deaf and ocularly troubled old cat.

I’m migrating this site to WordPress from MT and also changing hosts to a company that uses 100% renewable energy sources. It might take some time to iron out the wrinkles…

I’ve been using Lightroom 2 for a little bit now, and it’s pretty good. I like the additional in-place spot editing you can do without heading into Photoshop but mainly, I like the fact that when you do head into Photoshop to edit an image and then return to Lighroom and export it you don’t end up with a photo you didn’t intend being exported instead! That got really annoying once your library was gaining weight…

I’ve added Todd’s SlideShowPro gallery plugin, but I also came across a whole bunch of new gallery plugins on ‘the Turning Gate‘. I’ve clicked through to a number of them and they all seem pretty solid and well done. An amazing resource if you plan on creating galleries from your Lightroom library…

So, you think you can be a photog at the Olympics? Yeah, me too ;)

But, check out Newsweek photographer Vincent Laforet’s gallery of the equipment that he took to Beijing (worth reviewing each image to read the captions too) and it might change your mind…

  1. 2 x EOS 1Ds MKIII
  2. 3 x EOS 1D MKIII
  3. 1 x EOS 5D

And that’s just the bodies. He also has +100GB of Lexar UDMA cards (amounting to nearly 20 cards), two laptops (Mac PB17′s) and over a dozen lenses including a full case of primes and another of zooms. 7 remote transceivers and a heavy case of grip equipment too.

I complain when my Packington is loaded with my Leica M and Nikon D200 + lenses! I’m so weak!
